The Louisiana IceGators announced today that the team's “Defenseman of the Year”, Tyler Lyon, will be returning for the 2012-2013 season. Lyon, a native of Foxboro, Ontario, was acquired in a trade from Fayetteville last November. In 43 games with the IceGators, the 6'0” defenseman scored 23 point on 15 goals and 8 assists.

“Tyler is one of our best leaders on the D-core and has adjusted well to the systems,” said IceGators Coach Kevin Kaminski. “He does it all--power play, penalty kill, and has really has blossomed into an offensive player.” Kaminski is impressed with the leadership Lyon provides on and off the ice and is happy to have him back for the upcoming season. “It will be great to have him back in a Gator uniform,” he said.
