The IceGators have acquired center, Matthew Robertson, for the 2012-2013 season in a trade with the Pensacola IceFlyers for defenseman Sean Murray and forward August Aiken.
“He has a knack to score and gets his nose dirty to get the job done. We welcome Matt with open arms to dawn the Gator jersey.” said Coach Kaminski.
Robertson played just 3 years in the juniors before he got his professional start with the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the IHL (International Hockey League). In 76 games Matt had a total of 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists), while with the Lumberjacks.
Robertson, a native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, comes to the IceGators after a successful year with the Ice Flyers. He finished off the 2011-2012 season with a total of 41 points (27 goals, 14 assists). “Robertson does everything right and this kid loves to compete and score goals. As a rookie he scored 27 goals and this shows he is an offensive threat. This is what we are looking for to solidify our top 2 lines.” said Kaminski.
Kaminski added “We also want to thank Murray and Aiken for all their contributions with the IceGator organization and we wish them well.”
